MISSION OF ILLINOIS BLACK BUSINESS JOURNAL
The Illinois Black Business Journal’s mission is to advocate for and advance the development and growth of African-American-owned businesses in the state of Illinois. The economic empowerment of African-American-owned businesses contributes to and takes part in the self-determination, economic growth, and prosperity of African-American communities, thereby creating a strong economic base that nurtures, empowers, and supports the ongoing success of these communities and our society at large. Increasing the number of successful African-American-owned businesses and helping them gain access to procurement opportunities and capital is an ongoing process and the primary goal of the IBBJ.

ADVOCACY
The IBBJ maintains effective working relationships with its partners, corporate leaders, and supplier diversity executives. We will continue to reach out to elected and appointed officials locally, statewide, and throughout the United States for the support of African-American-owned business development. We are constantly monitoring pending legislation that might affect our member’s businesses—this includes their growth, overall development, and even their ability to conduct business. When legislation that affects our mission is being considered, the IBBJ quickly mobilizes to work with key policymakers to support, defeat, or modify legislation to assure our members that the IBBJ shall continue to pursue its “MISSION”.
